Growing fresh Tasmanian produce at a second-generation berry farm
Hillwood Berries is located in Tasmania’s north, a mere 20 minutes from Launceston. Crop health, fruit quality and a successful harvest are important year after year.
Here’s what you can expect at Hillwood Berries:
In the off-season, a lot of behind-the-scenes farm work goes into pruning, cleaning up tunnels and preparing for the busy berry season ahead. As summer approaches, you can enjoy the ripe-for-picking strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries on offer.
All berry varieties are grown in a substrate material, such as coir. This allows Hillwood Berries to have greater control over the nutrition, watering, and minimising pests and diseases. The harvest typically runs from November to May. This is due to the diverse berry varieties and the use of tunnels that maintain a warm and protected environment for the berries to flourish.
